Just came home from waching Varekai. I love this piece and i think their compagnions honored the guys really well after they were done with the act. CdS is so great, i almost felt like crying from pure emotion/exitement. The show just blew me away.

Tomorrow August 29th, Andrew and Kevin Atherton will perform this beautiful act for the last time, after over 3000 show without missing one. They will leave Varekai to be involved in the 2011 CdS show at Kodak Theatre, Los Angeles. I had the opportunity to know them, and besides two stunning athletes I've found two wonderful boys with a big good heart. The show must go on, but Varekai without you will never be the same: all the best for your next show, bro !

We saved up and then went, it's worth your money as you are in such an amzing atmosphere... we went in the royal albert hall.. and just the feeling as you walked in seeing all of the "animals" all over the seats and running about was amzing, varekai however does sell out pretty fast and it is the fastest selling show to come to england by cirque du soleil :)

the OEM straps are thin cause it needs to be flexible cause of the deployment clasp on the watch. If you're going to change straps, get an ORIGINAL panerai strap. that's the way to go. if you use one of those aftermarket straps, i believe the value of the watch goes down. a panerai is a fabulous timepiece and worthy of only original panerai straps.

The aftermarket straps in the video are of the vintage style, many using vintage ammo leather as well, to make a strap. It is a particular look that departs from the standard OEM. There are plenty of straps that imitate the OEM straps for $15 on ebay, but there's no point buying an inferior straps that imitates the original. To each his own. Many love the vintage style.. and many don't. Its up to you. :)

Go to a leather working site...onethat deals with shoe makers. You can find hole punches in all sorts of sizes and shapes to match the strap hole. Basicly its a metal punch and you hammer it through the strap with a hammer and you get a perfect hole.

@tdragon360 sure why not... but the point is you should try to avoid doing anything that deviates from the standard technique/position or you'll get bad habits. Bad habits might allow you to learn a few songs faster when you're a beginner, but will limit your playing when you want to play more complicated stuff and you'll have to constantly change your technique, which you'll surely find demotivational.

Hey, do you know anything about Slide Guitar straps. I have a metal slide guitar and I don't position it the same as a regular guitar. I don't want to ruin the neck or body. I don't agree with the strap on the top of the neck, especially on that nice Martin. I've seen more pros put the strap on the foot of the neck, rather than the head of of the neck. Your method tends to put stress on the neck and warp it over time.

My mon was really very innovative to make an acoustic strap for me by cutting off the strap of an unwanted sling bag. I have done this twice, but pivot prefectly in my harness, from torpedo, to seated position. MUCH to be said about this pivot point, as I do not really have a vertical position. I'm leaning foward on the chest strap, and simply lean back, rotate, pivot, whatever you wish to call it, into a perfectly seated position in my harness. I have learned much since then, but we are human, and even experienced pilots make this mistake. Please, consider this pivot point carefully when buying a harness!

This happened to someone close who was not so lucky!! Believe me it's very difficult to get in your harness after takeoff without leg straps on. We actually started hanging out harnesses (high up) and hang from our arm pits - to practice in a safe environment. Then swing around (difficult) and hook your legs around the risers - gliding in your harness. Hour armpits will be red/blue and very sore - but try it out, it might save you one day!! Best yet, do your safety checks every time.

The reserve is on the harness not on the pilot's pocket. In a modern harness the pilots cant forget to strap the leg because the leg straps are connected the others straps. I think he should put his weight on the rear side and try Big Ears and not in that position in which all the weight is on his legs. Good luck

If this is the same as a skydivers rig the leg straps are part of the harness. The parachute is attached to the harness...your body is suspended within the harness to the descending parachute. If you do not step into the leg straps you are simply not 'in' your harness. Your whole body weight will be hanging onto the steering toggles of the parachute. At the beginning of the video it mentions a 15 minute (with no inputs) flight to the ground. Thats 15 minutes clingin on literally for your life.

I actually tie the shoelace around the first two knobs on the headstock, simply because if I have it right against the nut it interferes with my fretting. The only downside is I think it occasionally bumps one of the knobs and throws my guitar out of tune, but not often enough to be a pain. Not enough to start drilling holes in my baby! I think that how stable it is depends on the guitar and where you wear the guitar. The back side of the heel can be kind of thin on some guitars. Okay, Solstrom is a tv series from Cirque, which features acts from seasoned Cirque performers as well as other acrobats. The new filmings of the acts are very good, but I'd not reccomend buying the dvds as the non-cirque acts are not all as high-quality and the total product is not up to scratch. If you want a good tv series from cirque, buy fire within.

When I watched this video I was confused because this looks like the exact same act as the arial straps routine from Varekai even down to the costumes. well i sing opera and i don't see anything wrong with her technique(besides my original comment was about her tessitura not her technique)actually Laur Fugere is one of the few Cirque du soleil singers who actually have a study of sing and do have "bel canto" technique(that is base of every technique) but here she's not singing opera,she's singing according to what is needed for this part,being nasty because u "can" is not going to make u a better person...don't see it as an insult see it as tip

You can attach them quickly to any strong overhead support like a tree limb, pullup bar, swingset, goal post, rafter, etc. A lot of people will take them to a park and clip them onto the playground equipment or goal posts in a football field. The quick carabiner attachment makes them super easy to put up and take down. About 15 seconds if you take your time.

I agree that it may be harder to do with dumbells on the floor, but my point was that these straps are not ''the only way'' you can do bodyweight flys. I still consider doing it with the dumbells bodyweight though... This could be debatable.

@beaudweiser no, think about it...the floor gives back resistance and so will the weights turning on the bar, so that will be muuuch harder than doing it with these straps. aka not your bodyweight. this is the smoothest motion you can find anywhere BTW i dont believe anyone should pay a hundred bucks or whatever when you can make them THE EXACT SAME WAY for 30 bucks at home depot for a pair of heavy duty cargo tiedown ropes

I have to give you props for being able to do the dips. I just got a pair of these the other day and after setting them up I cannot do dips at all, my arms shake back and forth too much. Other than that though, these things are pretty great.
