I've seen other interviews of him and he always sounds like that. Glasses on (most of the time), a jacket, his low crooner not quite monotone but close kinda voice. I don't think it's disinterest in his music though. He sounds disinterested with the idea of having to explain himself. He may be weary of it. Since he's probably been asked the same shit over and over. He's keeping his cool quite well tho.

the money aspect isn't what worries me here, at all. i'm not deluded enough to buy the whole, 'do it for the art' bullshit. it's the lack of excitement in his voice when he talks about recording the new album. the strokes were the first band that like, DRAGGED me in to music. this is not that same band. if he's this disassociated when talking about it, i can't imagine what he'll be like on record. i feel like i just lost my favorite band. this is so heartbreaking...

when people have to give interviews all the time and quoted for the record, they learn to talk slowly and most of the time their mind is going a mile a minute because they don't want to say something that can be misconstrued. He has said before that he has started to say something and stop mid sentence and change his words because he's afraid to say the wrong thing.
