Also I noted one thing; this illusion stays in subjects mind for couple of minutes. After test they did whatever they wanted, ate sandwhich and watched TV. Then I asked they back and thouched only fake hand. They felt it, but sensation wasn't anymore so strong. Also I hit fake hand and he said ouch, even though he didn't feel any pain. Another person pulled quickly his arm.

I tried this, success. I also tried how realistic hand must to be. I cut cartridge look like hand and then about 5 minutes simulating it had effect. Well, I think effect wasn't so strong as it would have been with realistic-looking rubber hand. And test failed only with one person.

i haven't done it before, but i can guess it starts by making a 3d scene with a simple motion (eg rotating balls), exporting the frames of one camera to EPS vector files, placing all vector files as layers aligned on top of each other in Adobe Illustrator, using the Pathfinder palette ... somewhere along those lines.
