Quick question. When translating the circle in the positive x direction (right) why is it (x-k) and not (x+k)? Surely you would require a positive number to shift it to the right and a negative number to shift it to the left? Great videos by the way, thanks.

hmm farly simmilar to what i did on my own yesturday. I was trying to make the formula for a circle and ended up with y=±(r^2-(x-a)^2)^(1/2)+b when a=x coord of the origin and b= the y coord.

Indeed the quadratic formula is important, I may even spend a video deriving it. However, I'm assuming calculus students have taken a solid background in algebra and precalculus, and thus have encountered said formula. Besides, solving the quadratic is not so important in terms of the calculus we can do on quadratics (or polynomials in general).

Ok, this is not calculus. This is not even precalculus. This is things taught in algebra I, and Geometry. TEACH CALCULUS. an example would be rational functions, polar coordinates, parametric equations, limits and discontinuity. Not simple relations and functions.

differential equations (basically just equations that use calculus operations) are responsible for nearly every breakthrough in classical physics and engineering. i dont think this was posted for the uninitiated but for someone like me who is taking the class of differential equations, its a neat little overview. math doesnt need you to like it. it is the language of the universe, and remains humanity's greatest achievement, without which no others would have been possible.
